About STEP2 Transitional House Residential

STEP2 Transitional House in Reno, Nevada, provides long-term, trauma-informed addiction treatment for women including mothers who are ready to rebuild their lives.

The program starts with a two to three month stay at the Redfield Residential Facility. They offer up to 30 hours of weekly therapeutic services including individual counseling, group therapy, and creative and supervised activities.

Residential Route

Many women transition to the Lighthouse Campus after completing residential treatment. This is a supportive housing community where they can live with their children in recently renovated, fully furnished bedroom cottages. Some of them have up to three bedrooms. This phase typically lasts nine to 12 months and includes continued therapy, employment assistance, and parenting support.

Outpatient Services

I like that outpatient services are also available for women living off-campus, providing structure, counseling, and education tailored to the unique needs of women in recovery.

STEP2 prioritizes pregnant women, mothers, and those with histories of trauma, domestic violence or sexual abuse. The approach is holistic and evidence-based and addresses not just sobriety but also mental health, parenting, job readiness, and long-term stability. One former resident shared that, “They helped me get my son back, get a job, and reminded me I wasn’t alone.”

Payment Info and Environment

Payment is flexible with support for Medicaid, TRICARE, private insurance, and self-pay options. The average length of the full program is nine to 15 months.

I think it’s nice that the facility includes a community garden, dorm-style rooms for the residential phase, and a peaceful, home-like campus atmosphere. Located in Reno the setting offers access to local landmarks like the Truckee River Walk, Idlewild Park, and the Nevada Museum of Art which can be integrated into recovery routines.

Participants receive professional therapy, learn new life skills, and develop a network of support that includes a rich community life. This combination provides a solid foundation for recovery and for relapse prevention.

Levels of Care

Inpatient Rehab

For around the clock care from a drug rehab in Nevada, choose an inpatient rehab program. At this level of treatment, you’ll live at the rehab facility and receive various forms of therapy, medication management, relapse prevention education, and nutritional counseling.

Outpatient Rehab

For many, Nevada outpatient rehab is the next step after successfully completing an inpatient program. This less-restrictive treatment involves living at home and returning to life responsibilities while attending several treatment sessions each week. This continues for weeks or months, until you are ready to move to the next level of care.

Dual Diagnosis & Mental Health

When you choose Nevada dual diagnosis treatment, you’ll receive care from experts who specialize in each of your co-occurring disorders. This multidisciplinary approach effectively treats both your mental health and substance abuse disorders.

Payment Options

Financial Aid

If you need help paying for alcohol and drug rehab in Nevada financial aid may be a good solution, which can help with the cost of treatment. Financial assistance options include grants, scholarships, non-profit programs, personal funding, and health insurance programs to help you manage the expense of substance abuse treatment.

Medicaid Accepted

You may be eligible for Medicaid (Called Nevada Medicaid and Nevada Check Up). For those who have Nevada Medicaid, coverage varies but can assist with all levels of care.

TRICARE

Administered by the Department of Defense, TRICARE offers comprehensive military health insurance plans for active and retired military members and their families. Similar to PPO programs offered by private insurance companies, TRICARE covers multiple levels of care for addiction treatment, including detox, inpatient rehab, and outpatient services.

Private Insurance

Your private rehab insurance may cover some or all the costs of addiction treatment in Nevada. Ultimately, the coverage amounts are based on your policy and it's possible you'll need to pay copayment or co-insurance fees out of pocket. Check with your insurer for more information.

Self-Pay Options

Self-Pay or Private Pay options are a way to finance your recovery journey. Choosing self-pay allows you to access the level of care you need —including detox, inpatient rehab, and more — because you’re not subject to the restrictions of private insurers.

Sliding Scale Payment

A sliding scale payment plan is an option for those who need help paying for rehab but can't pay the full amount. This option can provide access to all levels of care, including detox and inpatient rehab. To qualify for this treatment discount, you must complete an application and provide supporting financial documentation.
