About Spring Lake Ranch
Spring Lake Ranch is a unique residential program on a gorgeous farm in Cuttingsville, Vermont. You’ll benefit from a transformative, work-therapy experience to discover new interests as you find healing. They offer mental health and co-occurring substance use disorder care. Although they do not accept private insurance, Medicaid, or Medicare, you may be eligible for two types of scholarships they offer.
Since they’re not an alcohol and drug rehab, you must be at least 30 days sober and agree to remain in recovery while in their program. They welcome adults aged 18 or older battling mental health conditions, including anxiety, bipolar disorder, depression, schizophrenia and more. You’re also required to agree to take any prescribed medications.
Their long-term program provides a safe, stable living environment for at least six months. You’ll benefit from work therapy blended with individual and group counseling sessions to help you foster healthy relationships and build coping skills. You can also participate in sessions focused on life skills, smoking cessation, peer support, wellness and more.
What stands out most to me is their program philosophy. You’ll work to upkeep a farm with a community of almost 70 people. They separate work responsibilities into four different crews related to farming, gardening/meal preparation, maintaining the forest and maintaining the shop. You may also participate in cleaning, painting and landscaping. I think this is a great approach to building resilience as you explore different skills that can benefit you after treatment.
Another wonder feature I noticed was their emphasis on community involvement. They encourage you to reflect on how you’ll contribute to the community as soon as you arrive. You’ll engage daily with psychiatrists, dieticians, program coordinators, clinicians, mentors, and peers. You’ll work with them in your crew, share meals, practice yoga, play games and more. Furthermore, fun bonding activities like cross-country, skiing, camping and snowshoeing are available. They help you understand the significance of building strong relationships to sustain recovery.
