About South Shore Child Guidance Center
The South Shore Child Guidance Center is located in Freeport, New York. They were established in 1955 to provide quality care to individuals who want to enrich their lives. They provide treatment and supportive services for adolescents and adults who are struggling with substance abuse disorders.
If you or a loved one is visiting Freeport for treatment, you’ll find that the city offers a variety of activities to do and places to see. During time off, you can enjoy new sober interests like going to Long Island Whale and Seal Watching, fishing at Captain Lou Fleet or enjoying BBQ at the Waterfront Park.
They offer a DWI Offenders Program which provides court ordered treatment and education as an alternative to being incarcerated. This gives you a more thorough understanding of the harmful effects and risks of driving while intoxicated. They will also discuss the dangers of continued substance abuse and improve your decision making skills.
When you, your child or a loved one is struggling with trying to maintain a life of sobriety it can feel overwhelming or discouraging in the beginning. They offer individual and group counseling to help you develop coping skills, manage heightened emotions, combat triggers and more importantly provide a safe space for you to open up.
What sticks out to me is their medication assisted treatment (MAT) program. When you’re struggling with extreme discomfort due to experiencing withdrawals and triggers it can also feel very draining. This program provides prescribed medication like Vivitrol or Suboxone to alleviate the symptoms. This combined with behavioral therapy is their approach to helping you build a strong foundation for your recovery.
