About High Country Behavioral Health

Located in the foothills of Ayres Natural Bridge Park is the charming town of Douglas, Wyoming, where you'll find High Country Behavioral Health Douglas. This is an organization that supports men and women who are overcoming life struggles brought on by mental health challenges or substance use disorders.

The Douglas Clinic offers person focused care and is committed to helping you develop the skills you need for a sober, healthy future. You’ll be supported through individualized treatment plans that use evidence based care, education, and medication assistance when necessary, among other recovery approaches.

Medication Assisted Treatment

Medication assisted treatment (MAT) is available here at the Douglass Clinic. You'll work with a psychiatrist who can prescribe medicine to help you overcome substance use cravings. Medication can also be prescribed to help manage symptoms of a co-occurring mental health disorder.

Along with medication assistance, there are other evidence based therapies that will be incorporated into your treatment plan. Cognitive behavioral therapy is used alongside moral reconation therapy and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing to help you work through complex emotions and gain the motivation to set and achieve realistic recovery goals. What stands out to me is that they also work with victims of trauma, helping you work through difficult life experiences that might have contributed to your substance use struggles.

Work with Peer Support Specialists

One of the ways this organization will help you work through recovery is with the support of a peer specialist. I think it’s helpful that their peer specialists have experienced many of the same challenges you are working through in addiction recovery. They can give you greater insight into the recovery process and how to use the different skills and strategies you're learning in therapy to cope with the challenges you'll encounter in recovery.
