About Social Treatment Opportunity Programs
Social Treatment Opportunity Programs (STOP) is a state licensed and nationally accredited treatment program that serves Washington state in Aberdeen. While the Aberdeen location is closed, there are six alternate locations spread across the state with comprehensive substance use disorder (SUD) treatment programs to help people overcome alcohol and substance abuse disorders. STOP accepts a variety of private insurances but also offers a sliding fee scale and third party billing options.
A Dual Track Program
I like that STOP divides its SUD program into two tracks: substance use abusers (people who use recreationally) and substance use dependent (people who cannot function without substances and may have a family history of dependency). Participants can select either a traditional outpatient program or the intensive outpatient program (IOP). Both include counseling and support for dual diagnosis as needed, with the IOP providing an immersive 12 week program with 72 hours of treatment.
Deferred Prosecution Programs
Because STOP is a state accredited program this can be an alternative solution for individuals facing legal actions from DUI. I like that this means a person who might otherwise be charged with a DUI can avoid jail time, losing their license or having a conviction on their record by successfully completing the program. Likewise, people can avoid having their insurance raised or lost because of a potential conviction.
