Located in a quiet corner of suburban Newark, Ohio, Shepherd Hill is a residential addiction treatment center for adults. The services they offer include detox, the partial hospitalization program (PHP), intensive outpatient services (IOP), medication assisted treatment (MAT), and aftercare services. The facility also offers 72 hour residential evaluations for ruling out addiction or diagnosing patients.

Clients whose journey begins with detoxification will be monitored by medical and nursing staff members throughout the withdrawal process. The facility to make sure your detox is conducted in a safe and effective manner.

The partial hospitalization program will involve 30 to 90 days of treatment, counseling, and off site recreational activities such as yoga and swimming. I also like that their partial hospitalization program focuses extensively on changing thinking and behavior patterns. Counselors will examine what led to your relapse in the past, as well as previous fears, resentment and other emotions that have been roadblocks to your recovery.

One program that stood out to me was their Treatment for Healthcare Professionals service. Staff members will perform 72-hour diagnostic evaluations to rule out a healthcare professional having an addiction or help them get treatment. As a part of this service, clients will undergo a physical examination and a psychiatric evaluation. Clinicians will also seek input from peers and family members. If a healthcare professional is found to have an addiction, Shepherd Hill can help through weekly support groups, weekly aftercare groups, and implementing a work re-entry contract.

Some of the things you can enjoy doing in Newark are walking around The Dawes Arboretum or visiting the Blackhand Gorge State Nature Preserve.
