About Seven Counties Services Child and Family South
Seven Counties Services Child and Family South offers outpatient behavioral health services for children, adults, and families in Louisville, Kentucky. They provide mental health and substance abuse treatment, targeted case management, and crisis care. I’m happy to see they have specialty treatment services for veterans and other members of the armed forces.
Emphasizing recovery and wellness, this organization prides itself on having ease of access to its services. TRICARE, Medicare, and Medicaid clients are welcomed, as are those with other insurance providers.
All programming is person centered and trauma informed. When you enroll in a program, you’ll first receive a comprehensive assessment, a risk assessment, and a treatment plan. I think it’s interesting they use a psychiatric rehabilitation model that includes supported employment, community support, and therapy.
To make this treatment holistic, your primary care and monitoring of your immediate health risks will be closely tracked. Group and individual counseling sessions will integrate peer and family support. Family members will learn how to support you or your child through their own counseling sessions.
For families involved with the court system, Seven Counties Services has a special program Family Recovery Court Program. They’ll work with the court, treatment providers, and the community to help guide parents toward sobriety and help regain custody of children if necessary. You can expect to be in this program for 12 to 18 months.
There are three phases that include establishing and maintaining sobriety, enhancing parenting skills and knowledge, and development of basic life skills. There are family meetings throughout the whole program.
Louisville is pretty suburban, and there are some neat parks to visit for some downtime. Barbara K. Cothron Memorial Park isn’t too far away, and you can relax and exercise.
