About Salvation Army Baton Rouge Center of Hope

Salvation Army Baton Rouge Center of Hope in Louisiana provides support and residential treatment to adults, kids and families, regardless of their backgrounds. However, their Corps Recovery Program, or CRC is specifically designed to offer addiction treatment for men.

The CRC is this center’s main alcohol and drug rehab program designed to help men of all ages work through their substance abuse issues in a healthy way. Counseling is provided, as well as medical assistance, food, and even shelter.

Spiritual guidance is of course a huge part of The Salvation Army’s support programming and is a major component in helping men come back to themselves and their faith as they begin to rebuild their lives. This program, like many Salvation Army support programs, has been designed in tandem with its local family thrift store. The store itself is used as part of the center’s work therapy program, providing participants with work opportunities and experiences as they get back on their feet.

Work therapy is expected to take up much of the participants’ time during the program. This is often because most of the folks who take part have little to no work experience. This rehab program is designed to fill in these gaps, teach transferable skills, and set individuals up for steady employment post-recovery. While secure employment isn’t guaranteed by the end of the program, it's an important element in the long-term success of graduates' recovery as they transition back into normal society and their local community.

The center also boasts a transitional housing program called Next Step that’s designed to provide affordable housing, and enough structure and support to ensure individuals can make a smooth transition from rehab to independent living. This program is designed for men who have completed the program. It allows them to work while saving money and planning for a brighter future.
