About The Salvation Army Freedom Center
Based in Chicago, Illinois, The Salvation Army Freedom Center provides professional addiction treatment to adults aged 18 and older, including pregnant and postpartum individuals, regardless of gender, race or background. This center uses the Harbor Light program as its main method of treatment. Harbor Light is primarily an intensive inpatient addiction treatment program, and is said to be one of the most respected programs of its kind in the country. Clients who seek support at the Freedom Center can also access transitional services to help them as they overcome their addiction and adjust back into the daily rhythm of sober living in their local community.
The center’s intensive drug rehab unit offers residential addiction treatment to individuals who have already gone through a detox process and need further support. Addiction education is provided alongside counseling and preparatory sessions to help clients make the move to independent or semi-independent living. The residential unit is recommended for high risk individuals who may have struggled or failed to complete other substance abuse programs. So long as individuals show a willingness to try again, they will be welcomed here. Typically, clients can expect to stay here between 21 and 45 days in total.
For clients who have completed their inpatient treatment, the center also offers an intensive outpatient program. This is an option for long term care that offers flexibility depending on the unique needs of its participants. In this program, clients can access group services like peer support groups and group counseling sessions, as well as individual counseling, educational opportunities and DUI services if needed.
Clients can also access employment services through the center’s transitional job programs. Through these, they can receive placement assistance and support writing their resumes. Workshops are also held to help clients navigate conflict resolution, appropriate job behaviors, interviews and other transferable workplace skills.
