One of my favorite programs at the Clinic is the Positive Directions outpatient treatment program. The sessions are during the day or evening to fit what works best for clients. The evening sessions are also available in Spanish and meet legal requirements for DWI education.

This program helps clients not only stay sober but also reinforces and teaches new daily living skills. It helps you maintain and strengthen relationships with your family and friends because that social support is a vital part of long term recovery. Positive Directions also helps you find healthy alternatives in situations where you’re tempted to drink or use drugs.

Positive Directions isn’t just about treatment. They also help you with the basic needs that can help you maintain sobriety, like teaching you vocational skills and connecting you to social services. The program includes random drug screens and HIV education and counseling.

Crisis Support in Westchester County

I also like that they have crisis services that come to you. The mobile crisis unit serves Westchester County and has 24/7 telephone availability. This team includes a psychiatrist, child and family specialist and social workers, and they’ll come to wherever the crisis is happening.

If you can come to the clinic, the crisis support team has an office in this Yonkers clinic as well. Whether in the community or at the clinic, they can provide assessments, crisis counseling, information and referrals.

The goal of crisis intervention is to help you stabilize and connect you to appropriate resources. They hope to avoid hospitalization, but if it’s necessary, the team can arrange admission.
