About Residential Youth Care Inc

Residential Youth Care Inc, now operating as Resilient Youth & Community (RYC), is a Ketchikan based nonprofit behavioral health provider serving youth, young adults and families across Alaska.

RYC offers a full continuum of care, including residential treatment, community based clinical services, therapeutic treatment homes and psychiatric support for youth facing significant mental health and behavioral challenges.

Built on the traumaminformed Teaching Family Model, RYC, I've found, helps young people build lasting skills in a supportive, community integrated environment.

24/7 Supportive Residential Behavioral Health Treatment for Youth

RYC's core specialty is residential treatment for male and female clients ages 10 to 18, delivered through two home-like lodges, Spruce Lodge and Hemlock Lodge, with 24/7 support.

The structured 180-day program includes individualized treatment planning, psychiatric care, behavioral support and education services.

Treatment, I've found, draws on evidence-based practices like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, along with individual, family and group therapy offered at least four times weekly.

Sessions emphasize emotional regulation, communication and life skills, with a formal reassessment around day 90 to guide each client's path forward.

Education Support and Community Based Care

RYC pairs behavioral health treatment with educational continuity through public school participation, distance learning, an Education Center, GED assistance, IEP advocacy and credit recovery.

Its community based and therapeutic treatment home services provide less restrictive step-down options, extending clinical, psychiatric and case-management support as clients build independence.

Care and Access in Ketchikan

RYC serves youth in Ketchikan and beyond, with residential lodges, administrative offices and community based care available in-person; intake staff can help arrange travel for eligible out-of-town Medicaid clients.

RYC accepts private insurance, Medicaid, self-pay, financing and sliding-scale assistance, and helps enroll eligible uninsured children in coverage.
