About UPMC Northwest
UPMC Northwest is a multidisciplinary hospital in Seneca, Pennsylvania which has an inpatient behavioral health unit. This department focuses mostly on mental health but they also help with a dual diagnosis of substance abuse and mental illness.
The inpatient unit is for adults ages 18 and older and they have two types of care. The first is acute care which is for short term crisis stabilization. The other is extended acute care which is for adults who need a bit more time with around the clock care. Your treatment will be personalized for you with therapies like individual therapy and group therapy and recreational therapy. They’ll coach you in life skills that will help your recovery too and they’ll work with you to plan the next steps of your recovery treatment.
This is a relatively small psychiatric unit. They have 16 beds in acute care and 12 beds in extended acute care. That allows them to give you personalized and attentive treatment and to get to know you and your needs well. Plus they have comfortable amenities like exercise equipment and an outdoor recreational area as well as a laundry room and a community entertainment room.
I also think it’s helpful that this facility is part of the larger UPMC network. That network has just about any type of care you could need including outpatient drug and alcohol addiction treatment centers so during your inpatient stay you can make a plan with them for your ongoing recovery needs.
