About Recovery Houses of Rochester Alphonse Street
Recovery Houses of Rochester is a sober living facility for men in the early stage of recovery from substance use in Rochester, New York. They particularly serve men of color who may also have co-occurring mental health issues. They operate two transitional housing sites in Rochester including this location in Alphonso Street.
They're strategically located three miles northeast of downtown Rochester. Public transportation is available through multiple bus routes. This makes it easy for people from nearby Irondequoit, Greece and Chili to access the facility easily. Nearby Conkey Corner Park and El Camino Trail offer residents a natural escape from intense residential activities.
The facility provides a supportive living environment where complete recovery can take place without distraction. They’re not a treatment center but a peer oriented safe housing for people who are already practicing a sober lifestyle. This makes the program suitable if you’ve completed detox, inpatient rehab or even outpatient therapy. They may refer you to community providers offering this level of care if you seek that.
They even encourage you to attend outpatient clinical and mental health treatment while living onsite. Immediately upon intake peers and the facility staff will help you create a personalized living plan that works for you. You must stick to your recovery goals and stay completely free from any drugs or alcohol.
You’ll be immediately expelled from the house and referred to a clinical facility offering higher levels of care if you’re caught “using.” You can return after regaining abstinence and creating a more focused plan of recovery.
The first 30 days of your stay in the facility involve a weekly orientation group to help you become familiar with the program expectations and get your questions answered. While onsite you’re expected to attend weekly house meetings and complete assigned daily house responsibilities. This enables you to build character and gain independent living skills that can be helpful as you reenter the community.
You’re also expected to attend community based support groups like AA/NA, HA and substance abuse meetings. Participation in faith based programs is encouraged as well. Incorporating spirituality in your recovery helps you connect to a higher power and find inner strength in your healing journey. They also offer a reentry support group which can help you learn tricks to smoothen your transition back to the community.
After you complete the program they’ll help you reunite with your immediate and extended families, reenter the community and find gainful employment. This enables you to regain your financial independence and position you for a meaningful lifestyle with prospects for personal growth.
