About Recover Project
You may have heard of Recover Project if you've been through metropolitan Greenfield, Massachusetts. It's a substance abuse support program rooted in peer recovery. It was founded in 2003 as a nonprofit.
This isn’t a traditional treatment program. Instead, it's a collection of support groups and similar programs for people in recovery. It's comparable to a general outpatient program since there are no residential stays.
Events hosted by Recover Project serve a second purpose: building new networks. Everyone who attends is in recovery, so it's a great opportunity for you to connect with others who know what you've been through.
A Schedule to Accommodate All Schedules
Recover Project maintains a schedule of weekly recovery meetings Monday through Saturday. You're free to join whichever day or days work best for you and share your support with peers. Groups are overseen by co facilitators.
I appreciate that they allow attendance both in person and over Zoom. You can attend however you like, so you don't have to let the unexpected keep you away!
Socialize and Have Fun with Others
Recover Project also hosts various social events and groups that allow you to kick back with others. Some events recur on regular schedules, like dance and art groups, while Friday nights feature rotating events. It's important to have fun during recovery. Being able to occupy yourself and socialize are fundamental sober living skills you can practice in these settings.
It’s also neat that Recover Project is surrounded by suburbs and eateries. There are local greenspaces like Poets Tower and Beacon Field not too far away. Even off site and off the clock, you can build on your recovery.
Get Advice from Someone Who Has Been There
Another core service of Recover Project is their recovery coaching service. You'll get paired with an individual who has been through treatment and will happily help you with practical advice and advocacy. Think of it as one on one peer support.
Recovery coaches are powerful supports in recovery. From guiding you to the next step to reminding you how far you've come, their work can play a major role in relapse prevention.
