About 1919 University

Ramsey County’s Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics promote the general wellbeing of county residents via quality substance use and mental health care. They can help you connect with resources that will improve your quality of life and help you become an integral part of your community. I like that you can find help here even if you’re uninsured or underinsured. Ramsey County’s Mental Health Center is situated in the Midway neighborhood of Saint Paul in Minnesota.

The Midway is a central area between downtown Saint Paul and Minneapolis. The metro transit bus system serves the area well with several routes along University Avenue. Folks from downtown Saint Paul, Minneapolis and the University of Minnesota campus can get to the address by train.

The Green Line of the Metro Transit Light Rail has stops at Fairview Avenue Station which is super close to the facility. The I-94 corridor provides direct access to the facility for both locals and folks driving from the broader metro area. Street parking is available alongside parking lots and ramps near the building.

The center offers two specialized outpatient addiction recovery programs: CORe and Mother First. Co-occurring Recovery (CORe) supports folks simultaneously dealing with both substance use and mental health. It involves a 16 to 20 weeks therapy group alongside biweekly individual sessions.

You’ll also attend educational classes focused on symptoms of mental illness and substance use disorder. The program teaches the impact of substance misuse while equipping you with strategies and coping skills to prevent relapse. Additionally, you’ll gain social and living skills education to help strengthen your coping strategies.

Mother First helps pregnant and postpartum women achieve sobriety in their struggle with substance use disorder. To benefit from this program, you must be a county resident and pregnant or parenting a child under the age of 1. The program offers substance use assessment and recovery focused individual counseling. They’ll provide referrals to inpatient or even outpatient providers in the community if that’ll better serve your recovery needs.

Perinatal support, birthing education and recovery peer support services are all part of the care package. The idea is to keep you focused on both your recovery and your baby’s wellbeing at the same time.
They also offer referrals to age-appropriate children’s services, parenting assessments and community resources via case management. The latter may include help with medical care, job placement and affordable housing.

Mental health screening and referral services are provided as well. This facility supports walk-ins and provides short-term crisis stabilization for folks with severe mental illness or substance use crises. Once you stabilize they’ll refer you to the appropriate level of care. Service fees are charged on a sliding scale based on family size and income.

Addiction Treatment Programs

Adult Program

When an individual struggles with drug and alcohol use, an adult program in Minnesota can provide treatment and mental health support. Designed for men and women over the age of 18, these programs help individuals obtain and maintain sobriety.

Men's Rehab

Individuals who attend men’s rehab in Minnesota can expect to spend much of their days in therapy sessions. Therapy is focused on men only, and teaches men how to control urges and cravings and live a healthy, sober lifestyle.

Women's Rehab

During women’s rehab in Minnesota, women participate in evidence-based therapies to treat their substance use disorders. Therapy methods include individual, group, family, cognitive-behavioral, and dialectical behavior therapy.

Levels of Care

Outpatient Rehab

Outpatient rehab in Minnesota provides a less restrictive environment than inpatient. You’ll live at home while attending just a few hours of counseling sessions per week and receive ongoing support through a program such as AA or NA. This will continue for as long as you need this level of accountability.

Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)

With a partial hospitalization program (PHP), you receive structured care from a drug rehab in Minnesota, but you don’t have to stay overnight. You’ll receive various treatment methods based on your recovery needs.

Dual Diagnosis & Mental Health

Left untreated, mental disorders complicate substance abuse disorders and make addiction treatment ineffective. Dual diagnosis treatment in Minnesota addresses both, making it ideal for those who have co-occurring disorders.
