About Project Chesapeake Elkton
The Project Chesapeake in Elkton, Maryland offers various outpatient programs for the treatment of substance use disorder and other behavioral health conditions. They offer their full range of services to adult clients and select services to adolescent clients, tackling addictions to both drugs and alcohol. Outpatient programs vary in intensity, with groups and classes in the morning and evening so clients can maintain their work and family commitments.
Level II outpatient is the most intense and focuses on stabilizing clients and teaching them the tools needed to make lasting behavioral changes. Level II consists of at least 9 hours of programming via individual and group counseling. Level I outpatient treatment focuses on education, building healthy coping strategies, self diagnosis and developing a sober support network. It’s an appropriate level of care for clients who are still struggling with the impact of substance use but don’t have a life-limiting chemical dependency.
Clients may be eligible for medication assisted treatment (MAT) at Project Chesapeake if they have a chemical dependency on opioids. Clients are prescribed proven medications to ease withdrawal symptoms and undergo a program of counseling to change attitudes and behaviors surrounding substance use. The combination of counseling with medication is proven to have better recovery outcomes than either intervention alone.
Other substance use services at the Elkton Branch of Project Chesapeake include specialist adolescent tracks, psychotherapy for co-occurring mental health disorders, DUI and DWI education and anger management group therapy.
