About Project Chesapeake

Adults and adolescents are able to receive outpatient substance abuse, addiction and mental health counseling at Project Chesapeake located in a quiet part of Leonardtown, Maryland. The organization is licensed by the State of Maryland and is CARF-accredited. Their goal is to provide you with guidance, strength and compassion.

By providing substance abuse counseling, as well as connecting you and others with recovery focused and innovative services, they hope to strengthen the community. With that goal in mind, they offer you services that are specifically designed to address your well being.

Their traditional outpatient program runs for 26 weeks. This program is if you have experienced negative consequences in relation to your substance abuse. It focuses on teaching new ways to cope with stress so that you'll be able to resist relapsing. You'll also develop a sober support network to get through tough times.

If you are experiencing more severe chemical dependency issues, they offer an intensive outpatient program (IOP). With this program, you’ll attend a combination of group and individual therapy. You’ll attend a total of nine or more hours of therapy sessions per week. I like that you’ll have the opportunity to attend either morning or evening sessions, depending on your work or schooling schedule.

Group sessions will help you not feel alone. You’ll be able to share your experiences and learn from your peers' shared experiences. During your individual counseling sessions, you’ll take a deep dive into your addiction and set personal goals to work towards your desired changes. If needed, they can provide you with medication assisted treatment (MAT) with FDA-approved buprenorphine.

Education workshops are available for individuals dealing with a DUI or DWI. Additional groups are available such as anger management and domestic violence group therapy. They also offer mental health therapy and a psychiatric rehabilitation program.

They also provide tools for you to use when you’re experiencing difficulties such as managing anger, strengthening problem solving skills, and how to handle triggers.
