About Rio Rancho Family Health Center

Presbyterian Medical Services provides medical care, behavioral health care, and specialty health services for people of all ages around New Mexico. They have several locations including the Family Health Center in Rio Rancho. Here, they provide outpatient treatment for clients who are struggling with behavioral health issues, including substance use disorder (SUD). They accept debit or credit card payments as well as Medicaid insurance, and financial assistance is available.

Located about 30 minutes from Albuquerque, Rio Rancho is the third-largest city in the state and is known for its great schools, low crime rate and stunning views. In other words, it’s the ideal place to begin your recovery. You’ll be surrounded by caring professionals who can support you at every turn and when you’re not in treatment, there are art galleries, parks and museums to explore.

When you first arrive here, they’ll perform a quick assessment to understand your needs and make sure you’re in the right treatment program. Some of the services available at this facility include individual, group and family therapy, medication management and medication-assisted treatment (MAT).

Some of the other programs they can offer include Assertive Community Treatment (ACT), traditional healing treatment, psychosocial rehabilitation (PSR) and even court services. Their Comprehensive Community Support Services (CCSS) program will teach you valuable life skills to help you manage stress, cope with difficult situations and live independently.

I think it’s neat that this facility also provides an array of evidence-based practices that can be tailored to meet you exactly where you’re at in your recovery journey. Some of the options include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), narrative therapy, play therapy, sand tray therapy and others.

Art Therapy

Art and music are mediums that connect with our feelings, making them a great recovery tool during addiction t...reatment. Studies show that combining art/music and drug rehab can have a greater therapeutic impact than drug rehab alone, as you’re able to access parts of your brain and body that you may not have access to during traditional talk therapy. Benefits of art/music therapy include lowering stress and anxiety, promoting healthy neurochemicals, and providing stress relief.
