About Port Recovery

Port Recovery is an addiction recovery program in Nottingham, Maryland. They welcome voluntary and court-ordered adults to participate in intensive or traditional outpatient care. They accept most private insurers including BlueCross BlueShield, United Healthcare, Aetna and Cigna. You can also use Medicaid and Medicare and may be eligible for funding sources if you are uninsured or uninsured.

Their programs blend recovery housing with various outpatient programs. You’ll benefit from a comfortable living environment to focus on recovery while strengthening coping skills. While you’re staying in their sober living they require you to pay weekly rent, attend counseling, follow house rules and participate in community meetings.

Whether you need in-depth or standard care you can attend individual and group counseling sessions as well as interactive therapy. Along with developing coping skills, these sessions focus on family education, early recovery skills and relapse prevention training.

What stands out most to me is their flexibility and accessibility in treatment. Their intensive program provides morning and evening classes on weekdays and Saturday mornings to work with your busy schedule. That way you can stay on track in recovery while managing other daily responsibilities like work, school or family.

I think it's also great that they offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT). Quitting substances can come with physical symptoms that may hinder recovery. They administer medications such as Suboxone and Vivitrol to help you overcome withdrawal symptoms and cravings. You’ll also participate in behavioral interventions to help you get to the root of your addiction.

Former clients had mixed feedback. Some appreciated their welcoming environment and felt the care they received attributed to their recovery. Others felt the house managers lacked appropriate recovery time and couldn’t provide the support they needed.
