About Port of Hope Centers

Port of Hope is a nonprofit addiction treatment organization that had a treatment facility in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, which is now permanently closed. The treatment center provided clients with the tools, education and self knowledge necessary to quit substances for good and embark on a lifelong journey of sobriety. The center was licensed by the state and offered non medical treatments including detox. Clients were able to pay for services using Medicaid, a sliding fee scale and self pay options.

Social Detox in a Cozy Idaho Environment

The treatment facility was located near Lake Coeur d’Alene, a 25 mile long lake with opportunities for fishing, swimming, boating and other water sports. Tubbs Hill Nature Trails were also nearby and offered a relaxing nature area with recreational facilities, walking paths and beautiful green spaces perfect for incorporating into an outpatient recovery program.

The treatment center was known for its home-like and warm environment in the 90 day residential treatment program. I like that the staff offered a non medical experience for detox and the other programs. Not all clients want to use medications when in recovery.

Education and DUI Classes and Assessments

For a treatment center to offer DUI assessments, it must be an official, court approved facility. I noted that this facility was court approved, which was convenient for those in the area who needed court mandated assessments or treatment. Conveniently, they took calls 24/7 so clients could schedule a class or assessment.

In addition to residential treatment, social detox, DUI assessments and education, they offered an intensive outpatient program (IOP). Clients in the program received a customized treatment plan and were in direct contact with their counselor throughout the program.

Client Feedback

Clients found the treatment organization helpful. One client mentioned that it was easy to stop using alcohol and drugs, but “the hard part is staying stopped,” which the Coeur d’Alene program helped him do.
