About PMS Questa Health Center
PMS Questa Health Center (Presbyterian Medical Service) is located in Questa, New Mexico. They specialize in treating individuals of all ages who are struggling with behavioral health and substance abuse disorders. They were founded in 1901 and established in the state of New Mexico in 1969. Since then, they have provided treatment, healthcare and services to vulnerable populations. Their mission and approach has been to help adults, children, veterans and families through patient centered care.
The center is nestled in nature surrounded by mountains, hiking trails, mountain lakes, campsites and horseback riding trails. After you attend a therapy session or receive services, these areas can provide great settings for you to reconnect with nature and reflect on your recovery and the progress you’ve made.
Their behavioral health services provide therapy and medication assisted treatment (MAT). They also offer psychosocial rehabilitation (PSR), comprehensive community support services (CCSS) and medication management.
I really like what their comprehensive community support services (CCSS) entails. This is where they include your family as part of your journey of healing. They focus on these five domains: socializing, employment, education, recreation and independent living. This can be a great way for you and your family to have more open and honest conversations while still maintaining healthy boundaries.
Their PSR program is designed to provide you with life skills and education on how you can gain more manageability in day to day life. Topics like money management, communication skills and health management will be included to help you create the lifestyle you plan to live, with extra support to walk you through this life transition.
What sticks out to me the most is the variety of different therapies they use. Their evidence-based therapies include eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), sand tray therapy, trauma care, circuit of security, anger management and assertive community treatment (ACT). They will complete a comprehensive assessment to gather information and develop an individualized treatment plan to cater to your needs and areas you want to work on.
