About Phoenix Counseling Center Shelby Outpatient
Phoenix Counseling Center Shelby Outpatient in Shelby, North Carolina, offers outpatient services for adults and adolescents who are experiencing a mental health or substance use disorder. Medicaid and TRICARE are accepted.
They provide two forms of outpatient care. They have the substance abuse comprehensive outpatient program (SACOT) for adults only. This is their version of a partial hospitalization program (PHP). You attend your treatment five days per week for four hours per day. By the end of the week you should have attended a total of 20 hours per week for eight to 12 weeks.
Their substance abuse intensive outpatient treatment program (SAIOP) is for adults and adolescents. You attend treatment three days per week for three hours per day which totals nine hours per week. The program length is eight to 12 weeks.
The main difference between the programs is the total days and hours that you attend treatment. With both programs you will undergo biochemical assays to identify if you have had any recent drug use. This will also help keep you accountable.
In individual therapy you are going to address any possible trauma and work on the emotional side of addiction. I like that in group therapy you will be able to have a support system. During group sessions you will learn that you are not alone on this journey. You will be able to relate to your peers and they will be able to relate to you.
You will also learn strategies for relapse prevention and life skills. Essentially, you’ll learn how to identify your triggers and how to overcome them.
