About Perspective Mental Health – Closed

Located on the banks of the Arkansas River, Perspectives Behavioral Health provided outpatient dual diagnosis care to those experiencing mental health and substance use issues in Fort Smith, Arkansas. They accept both Medicare and Medicaid. Services are available for the deaf and hard of hearing, as well as in Spanish. They have since closed.

Outpatient Therapy for All Ages

Treatment was structured for all ages, including children, adolescents, young adults, adults, and seniors. A special focus was provided for trauma survivors and those suffering from post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). I also found a specialized program for individuals referred from the courts, though not for DUI/DWI offenders.

Trauma Focused Care and Suicide Prevention

Through their outpatient and partial hospitalization programs they offered individual, group, and family counseling. This trauma focused treatment relied on modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), and experiential therapy. They also provided case management, education, and crisis intervention services. I like that they had a program dedicated to suicide prevention.

Mixed Reviews

Reviews of the facility were mixed, with some clients expressing concerns about the quality of care and the infrequency of therapy sessions. I noticed that some said that they perceived a lack of compassion from the staff.
