About Ouachita County Medical Center
Ouachita County Medical Center Chemical Dependency Unit is a hospital-based substance abuse treatment program located in Camden, Arkansas. The 23-bed inpatient facility treats adults struggling with drug and alcohol addiction through combining medical and behavioral care, family systems therapy and 12-step recovery principles.
Since opening in 1985, I've found the unit has provided compassionate, multidisciplinary treatment that addresses the whole person and their support network.
Inpatient Addiction Treatment with Medical Detox
The Chemical Dependency Unit offers 1 to 4 week inpatient programs with 24-hour nursing care, physician oversight and medical detoxification when needed. A full clinical team, including a medical director, licensed addiction counselors, a clinical psychologist, a consulting psychiatrist, and a certified employee assistance professional, creates individualized treatment plans for each patient.
Treatment includes individual, group and family therapy alongside psychiatric and psychological evaluations, physical examinations and educational sessions. The structured program addresses both immediate medical needs and underlying behavioral patterns, equipping patients with relapse prevention skills and connecting them to 12-step community support like AA and NA before discharge.
Family Centered Recovery Planning
Family involvement is a cornerstone of the unit's approach, with dedicated family therapy sessions and Al-Anon referrals integrated throughout treatment. Discharge planning includes both patient and family recovery plans to support lasting sobriety. I've found that the program offers a free aftercare group for graduates and their families to ease the transition back to home, work and community life.
