About Harbor House for Women
Less than 30 miles outside of Grand Rapids lies Reach for Recovery’s Harbor House for Women. It’s in suburban Holland, Michigan, across the street from Lincoln Park. This CARF-accredited residential program provides a safe, structured space for growth and sisterhood. That way, you can recover from substance misuse.
One wonderful feature that caught my eye is they provide the same specialized care, regardless of finances. They accept most private insurance plans, Medicaid, Medicare, and self-pay. Even without insurance, you can access a sliding scale fee. This rate is tailored to consider your family size, income, and residency.
Their program lasts 90 days and offers a balance between structure and independence. They welcome everyone but prioritize women with Child Protective Services cases. You’ll live in their program while participating in treatment best practices. You can access group, individual, and family sessions, assignments, lectures, and scheduled activities. These approaches can help you build coping skills and change your behavior so you can relax and unwind from stress without drugs.
The house is nondescript, which encourages getting back to an independent lifestyle. They have a hardwood floor, comfy furniture, and lots of decor. There’s a full kitchen, and you’ll share your meals with your peers. There’s plenty of space and opportunity for fellowship. You can bring your own phone and charger and swimsuit. They allow you to smoke and vape in designated spots.
What stands out most to me is their mother and infant program. This specialized track offers targeted care for mothers battling substance abuse with children up to 12 months old. You can live on campus with your child, ensuring you can stay close to them while focusing on healing. They even offer childcare and coordinate health services for you and your infant. You won’t only improve your overall health. You’ll also gain the tools to sustain recovery and create a brighter future for you and your child.
Another incredible feature I noticed was their emphasis on trauma care. They understand that traumatic experiences can greatly impact recovery and your responsiveness to treatment. You’ll benefit from tailored approaches to work through these challenges and successfully transition back to life after treatment.
