Optimum Performance Institute in Woodland Hills, California, specializes in treating young adults. They are a Joint Commission accredited private pay facility that offers mental health programs for people aged 17 to 28. They treat conditions such as borderline personality disorder, bipolar disorder, failure to launch, Asperger’s syndrome, learning disabilities and dual diagnosis substance use disorders. They offer short and long term inpatient programs.

Their care is comprehensive and focuses on treating the whole person, not just the diagnosis. They specialize in offering dialectical behavior therapy. In the case of addictions - whether chemical dependency, eating disorders or something else - they help clients enjoy their lives without the crutch of relying on substances.

They don’t provide detox, so new clients must have 30 days of sobriety under their belt before enrolling. Optimum isn’t the right facility for IV heroin or opioid drug users or clients who are labeled stage 4 substance abuse.

Each client will have a customized treatment plan that often blends psychotherapy, individual counseling, house groups and life skills coaching. They also offer 12 Step support groups for clients who are interested. If clients don’t embrace the 12 Step philosophy they can join house addiction groups run by Optimum staff.

The goal of their rehab program is to help clients make a relapse prevention plan that will work for their needs and set goals for their future. During their stay participants meet with a chemical dependency counselor four times a month. They also join in group sessions led by this counselor four times a month. Clients also get random drug tests throughout the month. Social monthly outings take place and help clients have sober fun.

Amenities include chef prepared meals, semi private comfortable bedrooms and modern common areas. Recreational spaces include foosball and an outdoor swimming pool.
