About Oasis Center

The Oasis Center is a nonprofit to help youths in Tennessee grow into healthy and happy adults. The center is located in Nashville and offers multiple programs. Some programs include counseling, shelters for runaways and unhoused, and job support. They liaise with other agencies to help youth with substance use disorders. The outreach programs and emergency shelters are free. Other programs require a fee.

International Teen Outreach Program (ITOP) in Nashville

One neat program the center offers is their ITOP. The ITOP grew out of an outreach school program for teens over 25 years ago. They help youth with life skills, healthy behaviors, and a sense of purpose.

The ITOP is a more culturally diverse program offered in four Metro Nashville schools. I like that the ITOP helps refugee and immigrant teens connect to their new homes while celebrating and sharing their cultural traditions. The programs give teens a supportive space and help them deal with identity, relationships, and peer pressure.

You can explore the city and its culture during your downtime. Nashville is known as Music City and is famous for The Grand Ole Opry, the longest running radio show in U.S. history. The city is culturally diverse with different ethnic and racial groups and a growing number of immigrants.
