NuVista was a medication assisted treatment (MAT) clinic in Olathe, Kansas. They provided methadone, buprenorphine and naltrexone to help clients minimize withdrawal symptoms and manage cravings during treatment. They also had counseling services to help establish a foundation for long term recovery.

The clinic accepted multiple insurance plans, which may have included Medicaid and Medicare.

Outpatient Treatment in Olathe

NuVista’s outpatient program combined FDA approved medication and evidence based therapy. They provided individual and group counseling to help clients set goals, explore the reasons for substance use, and make changes in their mindsets and habits.

I saw that the clinical approach at NuVista was primarily focused on cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), which helps people understand that their thoughts lead to their emotions and actions. By changing those thoughts from unhelpful to helpful, they can also significantly impact how they feel and the choices they make.

They also used motivational interviewing (MI) to help clients define any obstacles they faced in overcoming substance use and address those concerns. MI also helps clients improve their overall motivation to change and address ambivalence. I know that when people understand their power to make positive changes in their lives, it can help them feel more confident and in control.
