About Newport Academy

The Newport Academy Outpatient Program specializes in treating teens experiencing substance use disorder, dual diagnosis, or other mental health concerns, and who may also be suffering academically and socially as a result. The outpatient program offers three levels of care: partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient, and outpatient, all providing evidence-based interventions and experiential therapy. This branch is based in Rockville, Maryland.

Outpatient treatment for addiction is individualized to each client and features a combination of medical, clinical, experiential, academic, and spiritual therapies. To meet the unique needs of teen clients, they offer a variety of individual and group therapies, including attachment-based family therapy, cognitive and dialectical behavioral therapies, motivational interviewing, and relational trauma repair. The device management group is a big positive of the program, which helps teens build a more balanced relationship with their tech.

One of the great things about outpatient treatment at the Newport Academy is that teens don’t miss out on the life experiences that are so important at that age. The center has a robust experiential program offering activities that build self-worth and collaborative relationships outside of a traditional therapy environment. Experiential activities include equine-assisted therapy, music and art therapy, martial arts, yoga, meditation, and horticulture and culinary therapy. Plus, partial hospitalization clients get academic tutoring and support to continue their education during treatment.
