About New Visions Counseling

New Visions Counseling in Downers Grove, Illinois, is a licensed and county approved center for DUI counseling and education. Founded in 1991, its breadth of experience and expertise has resulted in it holding the distinction of being the preferred provider by DuPage County.

When individuals in Illinois are arrested for driving under the influence (DUI), state law mandates that they must complete an evaluation. This is also known as a Uniform Report. It typically takes place before sentencing and assesses the seriousness of the case and the risk level to the general public. This risk level is then used to establish how much treatment individuals must complete.

This center is licensed to offer such DUI evaluations, and it does so in a relaxed and comfortable environment. The team understands that arrest and evaluation can often feel intimidating or embarrassing, so they aim to make the process as smooth as possible, working with individuals’ attorneys for a seamless, stress free experience.

Once clients have completed the evaluation phase and have been assigned a risk level they can begin their treatment and classes. They must complete all recommended classes to ensure compliance with the courts and eventually get their license back.

The center offers classes, treatment and risk education programs for all risk levels, from high risk to minimal risk and everything in between. At the highest level individuals can expect to be assigned 75 hours of treatment, amounting to 25 sessions, and up to a year’s worth of continuing care. At the lowest risk level just 10 hours or four classes are needed.

The staff here are aware of the stress associated with getting a DUI. With that in mind they try to keep sessions interesting by covering a range of topics in both the education classes and counseling sessions.
