About New Horizons

NRVCS sits near the New River in Radford, Virginia. They provide mental health and addiction treatment services to people of all ages, as well as supporting those with developmental disabilities, including MAT and jail diversion/alternative sentencing programs.

They serve all members of the community, regardless of background or ability to pay for services. On the subject of paying for services, they accept both Medicaid and Medicare.

The SAFE Program

The Strategic Assertive Family Engagement program encompasses several services that support one goal: keeping families together and preventing children from entering foster care.

Substance use disorder treatment is among these services, of course, but it includes others that I think are just as important to addiction recovery.

These include parenting education and family maintenance, things that can help alleviate the stress and confusion that come when a loved one is in treatment.

Train for Recovery

This location has a unique partial hospitalization program called Recovery Dojo. Clients spend an average of six to eight weeks engaging in therapeutic activities that treat the whole person through daily habits that address their needs.

What I like about it is that it covers a wide variety of subjects, like meditation and mindfulness, to nutrition and fitness.
