About New Life For Adults and Youth
New Life For Adults and Youth is based in Richmond, Virginia. Since 1971, New Life For Adults and Youth has worked to give hope to men and women who are struggling with addiction. They help clients become productive members of society through vocational training and a strong Biblical foundation. They run both a residential and outpatient program (IOP) at the Richmond location. I appreciate that services are available in Spanish.
Flexible Outpatient Services in Richmond
Their IOP gives clients a clinical treatment with a mix of group and individual counseling sessions. I like that they offer both morning and evening classes to suit different needs. Groups meet for three hours at a time, three times a week. For the daytime program, lunch is provided which I feel is a nice perk.
Their IOP blends biological, psychological, sociological and spiritual components of recovery. You’ll learn about relapse prevention, wellness, healthy relationships and emotional intelligence.
Four-Phase Residential Recovery in Virginia
New Life For Youth and Adults runs a four-phase program to help participants change their lives and empower themselves to succeed. This program runs at least nine months with an optional 5th phase for residents who are interested in pursuing ministry work.
The first orientation phase lasts three months and helps residents begin to adjust to the structured program. At the end of this time, if the director doesn’t feel that it is best for you or the program to continue, your time will end.
Phase 2 is also at least three months and focuses on vocational training, mentorship, Bible studies and individual and group coaching. The third phase helps residents prepare to return to society. You’ll learn how to face everyday challenges and focus on continued growth. I love that everyone gets academic and vocational training and practical mentorship.
Residents must prove that they can be self-motivated, show initiative and make wise choices to complete this phase. Phase 4 focuses on preparing for re-entry. Residents create an aftercare plan with the help of staff.
