About New Life Addiction Counseling and Mental Health Services

New Life Addiction Counseling and Mental Health Services was an outpatient addiction treatment clinic in Pasadena, Maryland. It provided treatment for substance use disorder, mental health issues and co-occurring disorders. Services included medication assisted treatment (MAT) and outpatient detox. The clinic is now closed.

New Life Addiction Counseling accepted Medicaid and multiple private insurance plans. These included Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna and United Behavioral Health.

Outpatient Treatment in Pasadena, Maryland

New Life administered evidence-based treatment through intensive outpatient programs (IOPs) and general outpatient care. They offered individual and group therapy that incorporated the 12 Step approach.

After the IOP, which delivered nine hours of treatment over three days each week, they had a continuation phase of general outpatient therapy where groups met twice a week for an hour per session. These would reduce to once a week after a period of time.

What stands out to me is that the group program taught new mindsets and helped clients create new habits to establish a life of recovery. They practiced and built on their recovery skills over time while building a strong support network.

MAT was also available, supplying medications like Vivitrol, Suboxone and naltrexone to those struggling with alcohol or opioid addiction. These medications helped people minimize withdrawal symptoms and manage cravings during the treatment process.

12 Step and Extra Support

As part of the recovery process, New Life would connect clients with 12 Step programs and other support services. I think it’s great that they could connect you with community resources to help with employment, housing and other needs. They also offered peer support, where someone who had been through treatment and recovery encouraged you and helped you link to the resources that helped them through tough times.
