About Murtis Taylor Human Services System
Cleveland, Ohio, is known as the home of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and you’ll also find nine behavioral health clinics run by Murtis Taylor Human Services System. The location on Detroit Avenue is their Westside clinic, which offers mental health services to children and adults and may treat co-occurring substance use disorder.
This clinic also provides competency restoration education to those who have been found incompetent to stand trial due to mental health issues or co-occurring mental health and addiction diagnoses. I appreciate that they accept Medicaid, and some services are free to participants.
Dual Diagnosis Treatment
Many of the Murtis Taylor clinics provide treatment for a dual diagnosis of mental health and addiction. They can also refer you to the outpatient substance use disorder treatment available at their main campus on Kinsman Road and via telehealth. This clinic also provides outpatient psychiatric treatment and medication monitoring for youth and adults, as well as a day program for those with significant mental illness who need help becoming independent.
Competency Restoration Program
What I found really unique about this location is the competency restoration. It’s an outpatient program for those involved in non violent crimes which provides legal education to ensure participants understand their charges, legal representation and what the court is doing. Then, participants are re-evaluated to see if they are competent for trial.
