About Mountain Youth Academy

You will find Mountain Youth Academy in Mountain City, Tennessee. This is a mental health and addiction treatment center that specializes in treating teens and adolescents. They offer a residential treatment program and co-occurring disorder treatment. Staff also specialize in a number of specialty treatment methods, including neurofeedback. Mountain Youth Academy can also help those with intellectual disabilities and children from military families. The program is trauma focused and seeks to address the issues at the core of your addiction. They accept some insurance plans.

People rarely choose to start using illicit substances purely for the sake of it. More often than not, lingering harm from past events can lead to using drugs and alcohol as an escape. Those experiencing addiction may not even recognize these connected issues because they're sometimes unrelated to substance use, like physical abuse and neglect. Mountain Youth Center has created a warm and safe atmosphere for kids and teens to work through these issues. Under the guidance of professional staff, they'll engage in different forms of therapy (including family and group therapy) to uncover traumas of the past and develop the skills to cope in a healthy way. Programs are individualized to each participant's needs.

Something I really like about their program is that residential life includes numerous social activities. Things like art classes and holiday parties help residents connect with one another. Events like these make the environment more homelike and allow everyone to practice new skills.
