About Savannah Mission Bible Training Center
Georgia residents who have substance use disorders can enter the long-term free residential program at Savannah Mission Bible Training Center. Adults who are at least eighteen years old can apply here. Admissions are based on the availability of beds. The program lasts eight months and features a practical and biblical course. Four phases, each lasting two to four months, make up the program.
A preliminary interview will take place in person or over the phone to see whether a client is compatible with them or not. On a case by case basis, exceptions may occasionally be made for those under the age of 18. One is free to leave at any time as this is not a lockdown facility.
Although the facility has stairs, which may be problematic for those with mobility issues, there is no upper age limit. Before admitting a person, they do require a few preliminary blood tests and for women a pregnancy test.
The program has a strict daily schedule and is highly structured. It’s expected of everyone to abide by the schedule and house rules. Rules violations or schedule violations are remedied with writing assignments, privilege revocation or additional work responsibilities. Your privileges will increase in proportion to the progress you make throughout each phase.
Two months of induction with limited rights and responsibilities make up the first part of the training. All that is required of each person is that they abide by the guidelines and learn how to seek the Lord. Normal life pressures will increase with the addition of some general household responsibilities in the next two phases. During these two stages the privileges will be visits from immediate family members and phone conversations.
For more than 50 years, this program has changed thousands of lives. The residential program is entirely free optional.
