About Mirror Inc Hiawatha – Closed

The Mirror Hiawatha Outpatient Treatment Program of Hiawatha, Kansas offered outpatient and intensive outpatient services for those with co occurring mental health and substance use disorders. In addition to private insurance and payment assistance, they accepted Medicaid, federal funding, and SAMHSA Block Grants. Telehealth services were available here for those who didn’t have transportation or time to attend treatment in person. This location is now closed, although Mirror does have other locations throughout Kansas.

Inclusive Care for a Variety of Patient Populations

Providing a comprehensive array of care from detailed assessments to various levels of outpatient services, they had dedicated programs here for adults, adolescents, transitional age young adults and seniors.

I think it’s valuable that they could serve clients involved in the criminal justice system with specialized reentry services after incarceration, and they had care for survivors of sexual abuse and domestic violence. LGBTQ+ clients, veterans, active military and their families found an inclusive atmosphere that made them feel welcome and seen. They also offered services to those dealing with co occurring chronic pain and substance use disorders.

MAT and Person Centered Case Management

With an emphasis on peer mentoring and person centered case management, the program connected clients with community resources and assisted with the development of life skills. Medication assisted treatment (MAT) was provided, using such medications as buprenorphine, methadone, naltrexone and naloxone. Treatment also included cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, 12 step facilitation, relapse prevention and aftercare services.

Lifesaving Treatment in Kansas

I was touched to see that clients described the program here as wonderful, saying that they were thankful for the recovery tools and life lessons. One person claimed that “Mirror saved my life.” Another called the facility the “best treatment in Kansas.”

There’s a basketball court in Starr Park and a 1.3 mile walking trail gives opportunities for biking, running, and walking, as well as a great place to walk your pet on a leash.
