About Methodist Hospitals Northlake Campus

Methodist Hospitals Northlake Campus is located in Gary, Indiana. The hospital offers emergency services, a diabetes center, wound care services, maternal and infant care, and an outpatient pharmacy. Additionally, the hospital provides behavioral health services including addiction and co-occurring mental health treatment services. The hospital is accredited by The Joint Commission.

They accept most major insurance and some Medicare and Medicaid plans as well as TRICARE and the Veterans Choice Program. The hospital is near the shores of Lake Michigan and about 30 miles from downtown Chicago.

Level III Trauma Center

I noticed that the hospital is a Level III Trauma Center with enhanced emergency care services. Individuals in a mental health or substance use-related crisis can be stabilized in the emergency room and then referred to the inpatient behavioral health unit. This is the only campus in the network with an inpatient mental health unit, and it is specialized for acute withdrawal management.

Health Equity

I think it’s worth noting that an independent evaluation by the Lown Institute recognized the hospital for its health equity and racial inclusivity. The clinicians provide client centered, holistic care, integrating both psychiatric and medical elements of care. Psychiatric care services are for adults 18 to 54 and they have a separate psychiatric unit for individuals 55 and over.
