About Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania – Cedar Avenue

Mercy Philadelphia Hospital became the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania - Cedar Avenue in 2021. It continues to serve the community of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, with emergency care and substance abuse/behavioral health services as well as primary care and other specialized services. This facility is equipped to provide inpatient treatment to clients.

One thing I appreciate about this location is that it’s part of the Penn Medicine network, meaning you can easily be referred to other affiliated locations for additional care.

Calm In Crisis

Emergency departments aren’t just for treating unexpected injuries. If you’re suffering from a behavioral health or addiction crisis, the emergency room here can provide much needed calm and stability as you work through the issue. Staff are present to help with the stabilization, keep you safe, and prepare you for eventual long term treatment, be it at this facility or somewhere else.

I like that this service exists regardless of whether or not someone is in a treatment plan. It’s always there, just in case.

Community Partners

Penn Medicine has worked hard to become a trusted member of the Philadelphia healthcare community. In doing so, they’ve forged partnerships with other providers and community resources that can help clients like you find recovery in a way that fits all of your needs.
