About Mercer County Behavioral Health Commission Central Intake

Mercer County Behavioral Health Commission has a Central Intake Unit that is the main primary point of contact for anyone who is seeking publicly funded services that are related to addiction struggles, mental health issues and intellectual disabilities in Mercer County. They are located in Mercer, Pennsylvania, and have different levels of care available. In order to find the right one for you, you'll need to take an assessment there. This assessment is a face-to-face interview that breaks down your background and story in order to successfully assess your situation and guide you to the appropriate care.

Referrals for Treatment

The way that they accept referrals is interesting to me because it includes a lot of different avenues. They may accept people through the Mercer County Court of Common Pleas and related departments, but they can also accept referrals through schools, treatment providers, physicians, parents and in some cases, self-referrals.

DUI Services

They offer DUI assessments, which are in collaboration with the Mercer County Court Administrator’s Office. They conduct intake and assessments for individuals who have been charged with DUIs and offer 19 appointments every week for this population.

Quick Access to Care

Some of their priority populations include pregnant injection drug users, pregnant substance users, injection drug users, women with children, adolescents and individuals who are actively experiencing symptoms of withdrawal. Those who fall into one of these categories get preferential services and can get appointments within 24 hours of their telephone intake. They also offer case coordination and crisis intervention for those who need immediate help.
