About Men and Women for Human Excellence Philadelphia
Men and Women for Human Excellence is a CARF-accredited outpatient addiction treatment center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, serving adults seeking recovery from substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions.
Located in North Philadelphia, the facility offers intensive outpatient and outpatient programs, plus a residential therapeutic community for individuals experiencing homelessness. I've found that this organization uses a holistic, person-first, strength-based approach that emphasizes structure, peer support and comprehensive wraparound services to support long-term recovery.
Addiction Treatment Programs at Men and Women for Human Excellence
Clients with more severe substance use symptoms can enter the intensive outpatient program (IOP), which includes one individual therapy session and three 3-hour group sessions each week. Those with less acute needs may start in standard outpatient treatment with one individual session and two 2-hour group sessions weekly.
Both programs use evidence-based therapies such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), integrated dual diagnosis care, and the principles of Narcotics Anonymous and the Twelve Guiding Principles.
Residential Therapeutic Community
The program also has a residential therapeutic community that houses up to 88 individuals in a substance-free living environment where peers and staff serve as role models. This is for adults 18 years and older, providing stability and community for those without safe housing during early recovery.
I've found that this on-site housing has free lunch services and free transportation to appointments. The center offers case management, future housing assistance and job placement.
Affordable Recovery Journey
Affordable treatment options start with a screening and an assessment, where the staff will review the person's needs. They can verify insurance or payment assistance eligibility.
Men and Women for Human Excellence accepts Medicaid, Medicare, private insurance and sliding scale fees based on income.
