About MedStar Southern Maryland Hospital Center
MedStar Southern Maryland Hospital Center is a full service hospital in Clinton, Maryland. In addition to medical services, the hospital provides treatment for substance use disorder (SUD) and co-occurring mental health disorders. I think many clients will appreciate that the staff has a strong commitment to addressing inequity and ensuring access for those in historically marginalized communities. The hospital accepts most major health insurance plans, including Medicare and Medicaid.
Inclusive Behavioral Healthcare Access in Clinton, Maryland
Located in a peaceful suburban town less than an hour from Washington, DC, the hospital offers a partial hospitalization program (PHP) and an inpatient adult psychiatry unit. The PHP is for clients who need structured treatment but don’t require inpatient, 24/7 care. This program treats clients whose primary diagnosis is a mental health disorder.
The inpatient program is for clients who need around the clock care in a structured environment to learn to manage their mental health issues. Primary healthcare doctors, psychiatrists and other health professionals collaborate to encourage clients to focus on their overall health and wellness.
I noticed that the inpatient program also treats clients with SUD and mental health issues (dual diagnosis). Clients who need help with addiction and mental health enter the inpatient program first. After an assessment, they’re referred to an outpatient or inpatient SUD program depending on their needs.
