About MCCA – Bridgeport

The Midwestern Connecticut Council of Alcoholism (MCCA) is the main provider of substance abuse prevention, evaluations and treatment services in the greater Danbury area. This cuts across the city of Danbury and nearby towns in western Connecticut. They have seven outpatient facilities across Fairfield, New Haven and Litchfield counties. This outpatient clinic in Bridgeport serves residents of Fairfield County.

This clinic offers flexible and low cost outpatient treatment for substance use and dually diagnosed mental issues. They provide both general outpatient and intensive outpatient programs (IOP). Your level of care is based on your personalized plan created after your intake assessment. You’ll find their IOP super helpful if you don’t wish to enter residential care but need considerable support to heal. The program focuses on helping you develop practical skills that encourage a sober lifestyle and prevent relapse.

Therapy is mostly delivered in a group setting and is mostly gender specific and trauma informed. Their specialized groups address specific issues like anger management and relapse prevention. They also offer an intervention group where you can learn to spot unhealthy substance use and make changes before it becomes a problem.

The facility even offers specialized Spanish IOP to cater to the unique needs of Latinos or Hispanics. This is basically an IOP that is sensitive to the culture of these communities. Therapy sessions, substance use educational classes, and workshops are delivered in Spanish. This eliminates language barriers in treatment.

The outpatient program may incorporate medication assisted treatment (MAT) to support people with opioid use issues. Although you can also receive MAT as a standalone program here. The technique uses meds and counseling to deliver complete healing. The facility has various choices of FDA approved meds for this program. They may prescribe either Suboxone, Naltrexone, Vivitrol or Subutex depending on your symptoms.

These meds help you manage withdrawal symptoms and eliminate cravings. However, meds alone are not enough to deliver 'whole person' care. So you’ll also participate in counseling to tackle the underlying psychology fueling your opioid use issues. Counseling also helps you build healthy coping skills to prevent relapsing. This integrated approach involving meds and behavioral therapy has been proven to deliver holistic healing. Holistic healing encompasses your whole wellbeing including your physical and mental health.

The facility offers special programs called PROUD that support pregnant and postpartum women struggling with substance use or co-occurring issues. PROUD involves various personalized, gender sensitive and trauma informed services that help these women heal completely. Services may include connection to community medical providers, employment and housing support. This is in addition to substance use treatment.

Outpatient programs are appealing for their flexibility regarding scheduling. This enables you to maintain your job and family responsibilities while receiving treatment. When you plan well, you may have sufficient time to explore some of the attractions in Bridgeport. This includes the Seaside Park and Barnum Museum. Both are less than two miles away from the clinic. The Barnum Museum is dedicated to the life and legacy of the legendary P.T. Barnum.

Self-Pay Options

If you are under- or uninsured, self-pay options can help keep your out-of-pocket costs at an affordable level for alcohol or drug rehab in Connecticut.

Private Insurance

Private insurance is one of the best ways to lower the cost of alcohol and drug rehab in Connecticut. Keep in mind, however, that coverage rates and other treatment details will differ, depending on your insurance carrier and policy. Be sure to verify your coverage details before entering a treatment program.

Medicaid Accepted

If you qualify for Medicaid coverage, it will often cover most - if not all - the costs associated with alcohol and drug rehab in Connecticut. There are certain qualifications you must meet in order to be eligible for insurance through Medicaid.

Financial Aid

For those who need some financial assistance to help cover the costs of alcohol and drug rehab in Connecticut, financial aid is often a good option due to the myriad of choices and options. For example, these methods can include rehab scholarships, receiving treatment through a non-profit program, and certain grants.

Sliding Scale Payment

Siding scale payment plans help to make it possible for many people to attend alcohol and drug rehab in Connecticut. With payment plans based on your income and assets, you're asked to pay no more than what you can reasonably afford.

TRICARE

Administered by the Department of Defense, TRICARE offers comprehensive military health insurance plans for active and retired military members and their families. Similar to PPO programs offered by private insurance companies, TRICARE covers multiple levels of care for addiction treatment, including detox, inpatient rehab, and outpatient services.

Payment Plans & Financing

For those who are underinsured or uninsured, paying the total cost of a rehab program up front is not feasible. Fortunately, many alcohol and drug rehabs make financing available to potential clients through private loans, in-house payment plans, or partner lenders. You can choose a finance package that lets you start treatment immediately and pay for it later.
