About MAAC Casa de Milagros
MAAC Casa de Milagros in San Diego, California, is an 18 bed bilingual residential substance use treatment and recovery program for adult women. This dormitory-style facility provides a nurturing and supportive space for women seeking a sober lifestyle. It’s just the ideal setting where women in recovery can bond, encourage each other and receive quality care that supports their lasting recovery efforts.
The minimum duration of stay is three months. You’re expected to be sober and have the skills to live independently and contribute to your community upon graduation. Participants must have Medi-Cal insurance.
Their programs integrate gender and cultural perspectives to create a well rounded approach to substance abuse treatment. I especially like that they offer medication assisted treatment (MAT). This can really be helpful if you’re dealing with opioid dependence or alcoholism. You’ll be treated with compassion by friendly professionals who are available 24/7 to support you. These caring experts will help you to address all personal challenges that may interfere with your recovery.
They prioritize personalized and trauma focused care. This is achieved using clinically proven models that seek to identify and resolve past trauma influencing your substance misuse. These include EMDR, solution focused therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy. These models promote positive emotions that help you process past trauma in a safe space. They allow you to develop healthier coping skills against unhealthy habits.
You’ll receive individual and group counseling to improve your coping skills. Their therapy groups cover multiple recovery aspects like relapse prevention, self esteem and grief and loss. They even offer resilience and trauma care groups as well as meditation and mindfulness groups. These groups can play a supportive role in helping you regain control over your emotional responses and build resilience.
You’ll also participate in educational workshops covering anger management, conflict resolution and family wellness/parenting. These workshops even teach independent living skills, effective communication and alcohol/drug education. You’ll receive job readiness training with certification to set you up for employment upon graduation. Various recreational activities are available as well to enable you to decompress whenever necessary.
They also provide optional support services to help you find strength, confidence and resources to thrive. These include assistance in gaining employment, obtaining permanent housing and reuniting with your family.
