About Lummi Counseling Services & Suboxone Clinic

The Lummi Nation is a self-governing nation within the United States, serving over 5,000 members. They’re the third largest tribe in Washington State. The Lummi Reservation is west of Bellingham and to the south of Ferndale.

The Lummi Chemical Addiction Recovery and Education (CARE) program is an outpatient program for Native American families dealing with addiction.

Substance Abuse Treatment for Youth and Adults

Lummi CARE provides intensive outpatient treatment (IOP), which is an excellent alternative to inpatient treatment. However, they provide referrals to inpatient treatment for those who need it. The first step is to get an ASAM evaluation to determine the right level of care for your needs.

I like that The CARE program caters to both adult and youth clients. They’ve an intensive outpatient group specifically for youths. Here, young people get support from peers their age. They work with therapists to support the development and mental capacity of this age group. They also work with youth involved in the juvenile court as well as adult drug court clients.

They also offer aftercare groups including ones that are specific to men and another for women.

Relevant Groups and ADIS School

Lummi CARE runs domestic violence groups for men and women. They also offer anger management groups. I appreciate that they have these specific focuses to support people to get to the heart of their issues that go beyond substance use.

If you have been convicted of driving under the influence, Lummi CARE can help. Their Alcohol Drug Information School teaches clients about alcohol and drug misuse. This course fulfills the DUI offense requirements for the state of Washington. Generally, this class lasts eight hours in a single sitting.
