About Lepenseur Youth & Family

Chicago's own Le Penseur Youth and Family Services is a support program of a different sort. Rather than provide mental health and addiction care to the people of Chicago, Illinois, they help with referrals to appropriate services. Since they don't provide any form of healthcare or counseling, they do not require or accept insurance.

Le Penseur's mission is to support each individual so they can live self directed and independent lives. They provide programs designed to help people who need help with their daily living. They’re close by the suburbs and nearby Ada Park.

Vocational Support Programs for Different Needs

The Employment Preparation and Placement Program can help qualifying adults prepare for and obtain a job. I feel what sets this apart from other job preparation programs is that it connects with full time employment that provides wages higher than Chicago's minimum wage. It has the potential to provide long term stability, and when paired with treatment can take a lot of worry off your shoulders.

There's also the One Summer Chicago Youth Employment Program that pairs eligible teens with partnering businesses throughout the city. Though this is a temporary program, it’s useful for exposing teens to the workforce and helping them develop valuable skills for the future.

Helping Youths Find Mentors

The Mayor's Mentoring Initiative indirectly helps clients. It's designed to support the many youth mentoring programs across Chicago. The resources provided by the program ensure these programs are run efficiently and experience minimal difficulty in carrying out their missions.

Kids and teens who have a mentor in their life experience all sorts of benefits. Chief among them is the development of positive social skills they learn from their mentor. Simply having someone in their corner can help them avoid trouble as they grow and become adults!

While not a treatment program itself, they'll connect you with the health resources you need, including addiction and mental health care.
