About KPEP
KPEP is an organization that prepares inmates to re-enter society successfully. They offer guidance, programs, services and encouragement so that they can become contributing members of society. They have gender-segregated programs.
Their standard residential program is for male and female offenders to give them the structure they need to return to society. This program includes 60+ hours of structured activities a week including substance abuse assessments and education, therapy, employability skills, and more. You’ll have access to GED prep and tests and self-help groups like AA/NA.
Case managers will monitor each client’s needs and progress during their stay. I like that residents have to give at least 60 hours of community service. Length of stays vary by person but range between 90-150 days.
KPEP also has a residential substance abuse program through the court system. This can be either a short- or long-term program that’s highly structured. It’s open to those who are not involved in the criminal justice system. The program is designed to change criminal and addictive thinking patterns and is structured to include group and individual therapy sessions. There are gendered residences for both men and women.
They also run transitional housing that gives residents a sober living space where they can work on getting and keeping a job and suitable living arrangements.
Outpatient substance abuse treatment is also offered that focuses on criminality and addiction. This program helps participants learn how to cope through developing new skills. They’ll learn to interrupt and change unhealthy thought patterns and learn how to improve problem solving and reasoning.
