About King County Behavioral Health and Recovery Division
King County Behavioral Health and Recovery Division is a branch of the King County Department of Community and Human Services. Their role is to coordinate and oversee publicly funded behavioral health services throughout King County, Washington.
The division connects Medicaid eligible and low income residents to mental health and substance use disorder treatment through a network of over 40 contracted community based providers.
King County's system is designed to ensure accessible and comprehensive care for individuals and families affected by mental illness and addiction, regardless of insurance plan or managed care enrollment.
Coordinated Care
The division specializes in connecting residents to integrated treatment for co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders within a trauma informed framework. Services available through the network include outpatient counseling, residential treatment medication for opioid use disorder, medically supervised detox and personalized recovery planning.
Treatment providers in the network offer evidence based tools including cognitive behavioral therapy and dialectical behavior therapy, trauma therapy and family and group therapy. I think it's noteworthy that the system also coordinates intensive community based programs like Assertive Community Treatment (PACT) teams who deliver services directly to patients with severe and persistent mental illness.
24/7 Crisis Support
King County operates a comprehensive crisis system available to all residents, including a 24/7 Regional Crisis Line, mobile crisis teams and crisis care centers opening throughout the county.
I think it's important to note that recovery navigator programs and mobile outreach teams bring harm reduction and treatment services directly to vulnerable people at transit centers and in the community.
Get Connected to Care
Services are available throughout King County with contracted providers and administrative offices located in downtown Seattle. The division coordinates care across five organizations and offers support to both Medicaid and select low income non Medicaid eligible residents.
Medicaid plans are accepted through contracted providers and free interpreter services are available in multiple languages.
