About Judicial Supervision Services
Judicial Supervision Services (JSS) has been providing outpatient care for people involved in the criminal justice system across Wasatch Front for over 25 years. They are trusted partners of the court, parole and probation department. They have facilities across three locations including Orem in Utah.
They provide outpatient treatment for substance use issues, mental health and co-occurring disorders. This program mainly involves therapy groups focusing on recovery skills development and relapse prevention.
They’re certified to provide moral reconation therapy. So they might employ this therapy model in helping you break the unhealthy habits of substance misuse. The technique improves your decision making, behaviors and moral reasoning. It’s especially useful in the criminal justice system to reduce recidivism and promote accountability.
JSS also offers domestic violence counseling and Prime for Life. Domestic violence is often linked to addictive behaviors. Prime for Life is the only DUI Education curriculum approved for use in Utah. It is a 16 hours course taught over at least two days.
You’ll attend class to learn new skills, participate in classroom activities, and leverage the workbook to help you make low risk choices. Emphasis is on preventing reoffending through smart decision making while creating a more positive path forward.
The facility is certified to provide intensive driving assessment for the driver’s license division. They’re also judicially recognized intervention (JRI) providers on the Administrative Office of the Court (AOC) list. Intervention here cuts across substance use, mental health and other factors that may affect your legal situation.
They support clients who are on probation or in treatment with other providers. They’ll even offer a referral to another JRI provider if your recovery needs are better met there. They also provide reporting to courts and attorneys in line with their licensing requirements. They’re well versed in court procedures.
They can assist you with preparing orders to show cause (OSC) affidavits and motions, testifying in court and resolving related legal issues. An OSC can be used to compel you to attend substance use treatment, take drug tests or follow other recovery guidelines.
The facility also offers alcohol and electronic monitoring services for people in home confinement, including GPS tracking as well. This can facilitate early reinstatement of your driver’s license. You might be lucky enough to benefit from their waiver. This covers 30 days of services for up to three clients each month.
