The Jericho Project is a year long alcohol and drug rehab for criminal offenders in Brisbane, California. They provide a strict, structured environment that places a tough physical demand on the men.

They offer specialized training toward a career in construction. You’ll learn plumbing, carpentry and welding. If you prefer, you can lean toward a career in agriculture. You’ll learn about farming with animals and crops.

You’ll get to spend a lot of your time in the fully equipped fitness center. You’ll work with a physical trainer to build strength and good form. If you do well, you can join a mixed martial arts course. You’ll have opportunities to do CrossFit, Tough Mudder and Spartan Race.

You’ll have regular group meetings. They use affective therapy, which allows you to recognize your emotions. They’ll teach you how to manage feelings without needing alcohol or drugs. You’ll learn to set goals for yourself.

What I noticed about them is they put great emphasis on learning to accept personal responsibility. You’ll also learn the benefits of self-discipline, self-awareness, self-control, self-esteem, and self-respect.

Many men are grateful for what they learned here and how it’s changed their lives. They say that the training is tough and holds them to a high standard. Others complain of being removed from the program for small mistakes. They talk about being dropped off in a city they don’t know and left there. Some family members say their men are still missing after being released from the program.
